Christy Williams Wyskiel is a seasoned entrepreneur and investor with 20 years of experience primarily focused on the life sciences and healthcare industries.Since 2010, Christy has co-founded two Baltimore based start-ups and has served as a formal and informal advisor to many others through her consulting firm, CWW Research. She co-founded GrayBug, an ophthalmic drug-delivery company, with faculty members from the Wilmer Eye Institute at Johns Hopkins. In 2013, GrayBug won a statewide business plan competition with over 60 life sciences company applicants. Christy also co-founded Cureveda, a biotech company, with a Johns Hopkins faculty member and signed a 3 year research collaboration with Glaxo Smith Kline. In 2012, Christy was invited to join the Johns Hopkins Alliance, a board charged with evaluating the commercial viability of selected research projects at JHU.
Christy graduated from Williams College (BA) and the Stern School of Business at New York University (MBA). Christy currently serves on the board of Teach for America – Baltimore. She co-chairs Baltimore's Next Generation Investing Event, an event she co-founded which has raised over $200,000 for two K-8 education initiatives in Baltimore City. She was also appointed by Gov. Martin O’Malley to the board of the Maryland State Retirement Plan (MSRP), which oversees $2.1 billion in defined contribution assets of state employees. She currently serves on the Advisory Board of the Center for Medical Technology Policy, a leading think tank in the area of Comparative Effectiveness Research. Prior to her entrepreneur career, Christy was a Managing Director at Maverick Capital, a long-short equity hedge fund with over $12 billion under management, where she had a long track record of successful healthcare investing, including multiple public and private companies.
Prior to that, she was a healthcare and medical technology stock analyst at T. Rowe Price. Christy continues to consult for investment firms by conducting due diligence and analyzing potential investments in the medical space.
